Visuals, Social Media, and Communications Specialist

Summary

A visual and written communicator who can tell stories across a variety of mediums and platforms. Designs and produces visual and written content for the web, digital media, social media, in-bound marketing, print, and video. Part of a dynamic and inclusive team that develops communications strategies for the school.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. (Other duties may be assigned.)

  • Coordinates social media strategies and content development/posting/analysis for all school social media platforms.
  • Responsible for all website updates – content, traffic, and engagement/analysis.
  • A member of the school’s Website Content Team; writes and posts for news section of website across various disciplines and departments.
  • Digital and print graphic design.
  • Coordinates event emails – writing, editing, formatting, proofing.
  • Managing photo/video database and archive.
  • Coordinates and executes weekly bulletin and online blog page.
  • Liaison with digital advertising representatives (i.e. Google Adwords).
  • Consults with various constituents of the school to execute campaigns and evaluate individual project needs.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree in new media/communication/art required. Minimum of 3 years experience in editorial or advertising visuals.  Website design and editing experience required. Proven experience with social media campaigns. Experience with video/editing and photography.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have Fluency with Adobe Suite, Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign Design software; Command of analytic applications, Google Analytics, social media analytic programs, and Word Processing software. Video editing experience preferred. Experience with HubSpot and Canva a plus.

Substitute Teacher (All Divisions)

In each division, there is an occasional need for daily substitute teachers. Additional substitutes are always needed.

Qualifications: 

  • A BA degree and experience teaching students in one or more divisions: Lower School, Middle School, Upper School; an advanced degree is preferred.
  •  Teaching and or Assistant Teaching experience in independent schools is preferred.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills as well as a love for working with children or young adults is required.

Daycare Teacher Assistant – Part Time

Friends Academy a Quaker Independent School, grades PS-12 is seeking a Part-Time Teacher Assistant for our Child Care Program to help nurture our littlest friends, ages 6 weeks up to 3 years old. Our small program is licensed by NYS Office of Family and Children Services and nestled in on a 65 acre campus. The Teacher Assistant position will start immediately, work on a school calendar schedule (10 months), and approximately 20-25 hours per week, Monday-Friday. Qualifications: 
A successful candidate will assist with the daily routines of young children, engage in age-appropriate activities, and assist with developing skills. We are looking for a reliable nurturing person who will enjoy working in a comfortable, pleasant school setting. Experience with young children working in a Daycare or Early Childhood setting is required. Ability to adhere to licensing and NYSOCFS guidelines. Background Screening is required. Dependability is a must.

After School Classroom Teacher

Friends Academy, a Quaker Independent Day School, PS-12th grade is seeking a part-time early childhood classroom assistant for the after school extended day program. A successful candidate will work Monday-Friday, 3:00 pm-6:00 pm and will assist with classroom management, engage children in activities and other responsibilities as assigned by the classroom teacher. Strong organizational and communication skills as well as a love for working with children.
